The Key Issues

S.2318/H.3527: An Act preserving broadband service for low-income consumers

Sponsors: Sen. Payno and Rep. Mendes

This law would help low-income people in Massachusetts get fast, affordable internet for $15 a month.

Here’s what it does:

  • Makes internet companies offer a $15 flat-rate plan with no extra fees

  • The plan is for people who earn low incomes or receive government benefits

  • Requires internet speeds of at least 100 Mbps

  • Makes companies advertise the plan and report each year on how they’re doing

It’s meant to give everyone a fair chance to go online for school, work, and staying connected.
