Advocacy Tips

  • Contact your representative and senator to tell them you'll visit for Digital Equity Day. You’ll probably meet with an aide who will inform the legislator about your meeting. This is normal and expected.

  • Advocacy becomes a powerful adventure when we join forces—together, our voices are louder, our impact stronger, and the journey far more exciting!

  • When you talk to your legislator, be clear, short, and easy to remember. Use facts and numbers if you have them, but personal stories help make the issue real.

  • You can download your own copy of the fact sheets here and gather talking points you would like to discuss!

  • The Alliance for Digital Equity created a list of suggested talking points as a starting point. Don’t forget that legislators want to know why the issue is important to you and why you think the issue should be important to them.
